Customers, known as Angels (us), deposit a monthly membership fee into an Angel account, which can be used to order wine from indie winemakers at any time. Personally, we add $40 per month which we use on our next order. You can easily cancel anytime and get a refund of all deposits. There are no hidden fees or unexpected costs.
When you drink and rate your wines, they'll suggest new wines you're likely to enjoy. You can do this on their app or website. The vintners appreciate your feedback. The vintners and wines have incredible stories that you can read. You can even message them directly.
Orders must include 6+ bottles of wine. There is free shipping on orders over $100. If you don't like a wine, you can let them know and they'll give you a full refund. They actually have a customer service number where you can talk with a real person if you need help.
This is how it looks for us:
We've rated the wine we've had. I log in and see which wines are suggested for us. I may order them, repeat wines we know we like, or explore other wines from the vintners we like or certain countries. We put our order together, apply our Angel deposits (the $40 we put in the piggy bank each month), pay the difference, and then wait 1-4 days for our wine to be delivered. We often order 11 wines at a time because they include a free bottle of wonderful wine they're highlighting to round out the case and our shipping is free.
